Melinda Gale

After earning her BA from Reed College in 1990, Melinda Gale began teaching in a bilingual high school in Brooklyn, NY. Several years later she returned to Portland to earn her MAT in education from Lewis and Clark College and began teaching high school at St. Mary’s Academy downtown. She later taught in the immersion and International Baccalaureate programs at Lincoln High and finished her work there as the IB Coordinator. Melinda has also held positions at both Portland State University and Portland Community College and has taught students of all ages.
She has traveled extensively, spending more than a year living in and around Caracas, Venezuela. In 1997 the National Endowment for the Arts awarded her a teacher scholarship, and she spent 3 months studying indigenous ceramics in Mexico City and throughout the state of Oaxaca. Melinda has also traveled extensively in Spain and spent time in both Puerto Rico and Colombia.
Currently she has 2 young daughters and enjoys the depth that teaching in a small group/individual environment allows. |
